The Leadership Capacity Project
A research-led look at how good leaders sustain themselves over time.
And an invitation to add your voice. If a nomination brought you here, someone sees the way you lead and wants it counted.
45 to 60 minutes · No preparation · By nomination
The shift
The leaders who thrive today aren’t the ones pushing harder. They’re the ones who protect their capacity.
Our work with founders, executives and high-performing teams keeps surfacing patterns worth understanding properly.
So we’ve begun a research-led project into the real operating systems behind sustainable leadership, told through the experiences of leaders who live it. You’ve been nominated for your impact, your presence, and the way you lead with intention and care. We’d be grateful to include you.
The model behind it
Capacity isn’t a trait. It’s a wheel, and the spin is the thing.
Four factors decide whether you lead from a full tank or an empty one. Your biology shapes your leadership, which drives your behaviour, which builds your environment, which feeds back to your biology. Being is biology and environment. Doing is leadership and behaviour. Turned one way the wheel builds you. Turned the other it empties you, faster the harder you push.
What this project is
A collaborative exploration of how real leaders carry the load.
Not a hero narrative. A shared investigation of the patterns that matter, drawn from the leaders who live them.
- Build and protect energy
- Navigate the internal cost of leadership
- Sustain clarity under pressure
- Recover, reset and stay grounded
- Maintain purpose, humanity and effectiveness over time
- Evolve their leadership without burning out
What to expect
A calm, reflective conversation. No preparation, and no right answers.
An honest conversation about the realities of leadership you rarely get asked about. It moves through a handful of themes: the demands of leadership, what it costs you, what restores you, the habits that keep you grounded, how you keep growing, and the honest truth of where it still challenges you.

Why your voice matters
The leaders most worth learning from are usually the ones least likely to put their hand up.
Your honest experience, the wins and the hard parts, becomes part of a body of work that helps other leaders carry the load without losing themselves.
It costs you an hour. It could change how a lot of people lead.
Your privacy
You choose how your insights are used. Attributed, anonymous, or kept off the record.
Nothing attributed to you will be published without your approval.
Your comfort and privacy come first, at every step.
A note from Rachel
My commitment to you: integrity in how your story is represented, care and confidentiality throughout, and honouring your boundaries.
Using your wisdom to support future leaders, with nothing shared beyond what you’re comfortable with.
